Friendship Workshop
Hocking Hill’s, Ohio | June 18-21, 2026
Application Deadline is April 15th!
For Rising High School Juniors
Most high schoolers take friendship for granted. This workshop aims to reclaim its value and practice. Through three-days of hiking, camping and campfires in the rugged gorges of Ohio’s Hocking Hills, students will move beyond socializing toward the intentional pursuit of virtuous community.
Why a Friendship Workshop?
In an age of culturally-assisted individualism and self-centeredness, even the supreme ideal of friendship can corrode. We can start to even see our friends with too much of a self-serving outlook. As young men make their fundamental shift from adolescence to adulthood, it is critical to take a deeper look at the inestimable value and practice of friendship.
Components of High School & Beyond
Objectives: By the end of this workshop, students will have:
1. Learned to recognize good friendships vs bad friendships.
2. Explored the positive and negative influences on friendship in our culture.
3. Understood the distinction between male friends and female relationships.
4. Appreciated what it means to be intentional with existing friends and in making new friends.
5. Grasped the intrinsic connections between true freedom and authentic reciprocal friendship.
Content: Students will read and discuss excerpts from:
1. Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics
2. Justin Earley’s Made for People
3. Karol Wojtyla’s Love & Responsibility
